Bareboat Sailing Experience Levels

Generally, we look for you to be able document sailing experience on a yacht of similar size and in similar conditions to those where you would like to charter. For a better guide, the sailing experience levels shown at the bottom of this page should help determine where and what conditions will be best for your charter. Levels 1 & 2 charter condition are typically better for enjoyable and relaxing vacationd, and to increase your confidence for future trips.
  • Wind & Weather

  • Level 1: 0-12 knots
  • Level 2: 12-17 knots
  • Level 3: 17-25 knots
  • Navigation

  • Level 1: Line of sight sailing Basic knowledge of charts Be able to plot your position
  • Level 2: Understand tidal flow Navigate in limited visibility Open water sailing
  • Level 3: Understand large tidal variations Cope with strong currents Be able to make a passage plan
  • Anchor/Mooring

  • Level 1: Mooring buoys Good holding for anchors Protected anchorages
  • Level 2: Anchoring in Protected Anchorages Mediterranean style mooring and/or marina slips
  • Level 3: Anchoring in some difficult to reach anchorages and more difficult anchor holding grounds
