What’s a Mile Builder?

The perfect yacht training ground...

Join-in trips for our training program alumni to gain experience and build sea-miles. These delivery cruises include 12 hours of night sailing and good navigation exercises passing the passage at Samea San and the offshore passage across the Bay of Rayong. Watchkeepers will be expected to command a watch and have control of the vessel whilst the skipper is off watch.

GCT will sign off your log book with certified miles if you already have an IYT passport or any other form of sea mile log. You will be accompanied by a capable Captain who will be happy to answer any questions you may have along the way, however, this is not designed to be an instructional cruise. You are simply there in your capacity as crew member.

What to expect

Although these trips are not what you would call “Deliveries” in the strictest sense, the captain does have a mission to deliver the yacht on time. We keep these trips as fun as possible, but when the wind drops the engine is on and we’re continuing on our non stop way.

The captain will divide the crew in to watches with a role relevant to your experience. You will gain experience from helming to sail trimming to cooking and dish washing!

In this case you would be expected to share the additional cost of that taxi equally amongst other people choosing to use the service or to pay for your accommodation and take the join in mini-van the next day.

The provisioning for these trips is kept simply, typical meals would be sandwiches, pasta breakfast cereal etc. if you have any specific requirements please let us know in advance or feel free to bring along something yourself.
