The perfect yacht training ground...

IYT is US based professional megayacht crew and recreational sailor training organization.

As such it is recognized by the Americans by the US Coast Guard and the British as an MCA approved school. Graduates qualify for the professional operation of yachts registered in 29 countries. In practice this international recognition covers about 95% of the world fleet of professionally crewed yachts.

The recreational IYT sailing courses have been developed for private sailors who may be an existing or aspiring boat owner or boat charter skipper.

Gulf Charters Thailand is an IYT partner school and offers these recreational courses for those wishing to learn to sail.

IYT publishes a strict syllabus for the course which is modular in construction so that each module is a complete structured lesson plan that takes a day or half a day to complete. On the five day courses run by Gulf charters you will typically cover 5-6 modules.

IYT issues each student with an IYT Passport that records your personal data – certifies the modules completed and logs the sea miles covered. At the end of the course successful students receive an IYT certificate and their details of dates and modules covered together with the certificate number are registered with IYT which maintains a graduate register of the data for possible reference by third parties at a later date.

Currently there are 50 partner IYT sailing schools offering the same IYT courses so it is possible to do crew in one country, watchkeeper in another and skipper in another and they will all follow the same course structure and syllabus with no gaps or overlaps.
